Chickenlips PETSCIIBOARD™

This is for products with a physical and digital component. Things like an Arduino based emulator of a 1970s mainframe, a toaster that butters your bread, or even a homebrew computer.

Chickenlips PETSCIIBOARD™

Post by Perifractic »

This is the place to receive or give tech support for Perifractic's Chickenlips PETSCIIBOARD 104-key USB keyboard – designed to offer full PETSCII + everyday keyboard functionality to all VICE-based emulator systems, on the keys you expect. More info: https://perifractic.com/petsciiboard

Note: This keyboard is different to the 104-key Commander X16 "Deluxe" keyboard. Because the X16 kernal was able to be customised, whereas the original C64 kernal used by VICE is not, they use somewhat different PETSCII layouts.

Great - Looking forward to it!

Will it also be possible to order in ISO-layout for us Europeans?

There will only be one model but I am implementing crucial symbols such as EURO on the correct keys. The aim is to make a "one-size-fits-all" device.

I read that this keyboard is 95% compatible with Mister commodore 64 core.

What's the 5% that's not compatible?

Thanks.

MiSTer uses these keys as alternates for the keys that don't map cleanly to IBM keyboards:

F9 is the up arrow/Pi key.
F10 is the = key.
F11 is RESTORE
F12 opens the MiSTer menu
END is also the = key, and PgDn is also the up arrow/Pi key.
PgUp is the "tape play" key.
[ is the @ key
] is the * key

On the PETSCIIBOARD, most of those keys are mapped on top of the PC equivalent. You can see the layout here:
